Aletheia V.P. Allen, Chief Appellate Attorney

Aletheia grew up in Packer Country where winters are cold and cheese is plenty. She moved to Bears Nation for college, graduating from the University of Chicago with a bachelors degree in the humanities major, Law, Letters & Society (a/k/a pre-law). A couple years later, seeking adventure and change, Aletheia moved to the Land of Enchantment for law school. She served as Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review and president and vice president of the Women’s Law Caucus and graduated from UNM School of Law, cum laude. Aletheia then worked as an intellectual property and marketing consultant for an internet start-up company in Chicago, while editing the business law textbook for the American School of Correspondence and teaching advanced math and introduction to computers to correspondence high school students. She then returned to New Mexico where she immensely enjoyed clerking for the Honorable James J. Wechsler (ret.) here at the Court of Appeals. After finishing her clerkship, Aletheia spent a few years at the boutique firm Arland & Associates, LLC, where she practiced primarily in complex civil litigation, bankruptcy, foreclosure, and lender liability. Aletheia returned to the Court in March 2014 as a DACA staff attorney, where she now serves as its Chief. In her non-work time, Aletheia enjoys spending time with her family, exploring new coffees and teas, reading, painting, and hiking.
